Scunthorpe
With strong transport links to the rest of the UK and a town centre regeneration plan to support its younger than average population, Scunthorpe is an exciting town to kickstart your graduate career in.
Excellent transport links
Scunthorpe is an industrial town in the district of North Lincolnshire with a population of over 80,000, making it the third-largest settlement in Lincolnshire. Famous for its longstanding steel production industry, Scunthorpe is home to the British Steel headquarters which contributes significantly to the local economy.
To boost tourism and improve the residential experience in the area, the town benefitted from a £10million development fund to redevelop their high street. This includes plans to improve their public spaces and create a huge enterprise and innovation hub for budding new businesses. The project will develop space to host tech companies and those in the creative industries. Scunthorpe’s central park plays host to a range of events throughout the year including a 5km run group every Saturday and you can also catch a live show at the Baths Hall or the Plowright Theatre. The town has strong transport links to Doncaster, Cleethorpes and Manchester Airport via Rail. By road, it is only a 45-minute journey into Lincoln and the same distance to the coast. The well-connected nature of the town makes it a great option for a graduate who wants to be on the go!
